Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant likely suffered a torn Achilles tendon on Monday night, which is obviously going to make it harder for his team to prevail in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Apparently, fans of another team in the NBA also believe it hurt them as well.
The New York Daily News, known for its edgy backpage headlines, might have gone a bit too far on Tuesday morning. They went with a “Knicks Lose Game 5” headline – implying that Durant’s injury either hurts their chances of signing him or delays them from seeing him on the court in a Knicks uniform.
Durant, who is a free agent after this season, is thought to be exploring his options – including New York.

NBA fans aren’t happy:
Dear god this is bad.
A player suffered a potentially career-altering injury. The Knicks haven't played a game in almost two months. This headline is awful. https://t.co/2vIyA69ZqF

Durant is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday, but the Warriors believe it will just confirm what they already believe – that he has a torn Achilles.
If so, he’s looking at a recovery time of 6-12 months. Obviously, that could weigh into his free agency decision.
Game 6 will come on Thursday night at Golden State.
