New York Giants fans (and the rest of the NFL world) freaked out when Dave Gettleman took Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Today, though same fans are once again freaking out about Jones, only this time, it's a positive freak out.

Jones is making his first career NFL start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this afternoon. And it's going very, very well.

The Giants rookie quarterback is currently 17 for 25 for 265 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has a QB rating of 129.6. Jones has also rushed for 21 yards and one touchdown.

Jones' first touchdown pass was a 75-yarder to Evan Engram:

Jones has been superb all game, really. This is apparently the quarterback the Giants thought they were getting when they took him at No. 6 overall. It's not the quarterback most Giants fans thought they were getting, of course, but they're perfectly OK with that.

We even have ESPN analysts admitting they were wrong about the quarterback. "Daniel Jones," Dan Orlovsky tweeted, "I was wrong about you."

Jones still has a quarter-plus of game left to impress, as the Giants are trailing the Bucs, 28-25, with a little more than six minutes to play in the third quarter.

If New York's rookie quarterback can pull off a comeback win on the road, he'll really have fans singing his praises.
