49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reportedly ghosted the team's pre-draft press conference with reporters Monday amid the Deebo Samuel trade speculation.

When asked about where Shanahan was for the media sit-down, GM John Lynch said, "He's always invited."

“Last year, just kind of on a whim, I think he wanted to have some fun, so he came and joined me, but I just left him and he was actually, we were studying some different scenarios at 61, so that’s what we were doing when I last left him," Lynch explained. "And I think he was too engrossed in that, so you got stuck with me.” The 49ers aren't picking until late in the second round this year; and have a stockpile of draft slots Rounds 3-7.

Given the timeframe, it's fair to assume the Niners head coach had a window to speak to reports to begin the week. However, the noise surrounding their All-Pro wide receiver's trade request has been one of the loudest storylines in the NFL of late.

Obviously, it's something he'll have to address at some point.

But, for now, we'll give Shanahan the benefit of the doubt that draft strategy won the day.
