NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport had a Sunday morning update on the recovery timeline for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who dislocated his kneecap in the win over the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.

Mahomes is expected to miss a couple of weeks, though this is not a season-ending injury.

"QB Patrick Mahomes is out 3-5 weeks, either back in Week 11 or after the bye in Week 13. Two key points: He avoided major injury by not moving on the field and surgery wasn't discussed at all during the week," he reports.

Mahomes is expected to be back in Week 11 or after the bye in Week 13.

Mahomes was on track to win the NFL's MVP for the second straight season. The Kansas City Chiefs have looked like legitimate Super Bowl contenders this year, too. Of course, getting Mahomes back and healthy is necessary for that to happen.

Kansas City is set to host Green Bay next Sunday.
