The NFL’s craziest finish of the Week 1 slate came in Detroit.
The Lions were getting crushed by the 49ers for most of the contest. However, Detroit made a huge push in the second half, nearly pulling off an incredible comeback.
Ultimately, that comeback fell a little bit short. San Francisco topped Detroit, 41-33, to secure their first win of the season.
The 49ers nearly choked up a massive lead, though. San Francisco was seen as a near-lock for most of the game. However, the Lions made a big push late, thanks to a recovered onside kick.

The Lions couldn’t finish off the comeback, though. Still, it was a pretty incredible fourth quarter for Dan Campbell’s squad.
With 2 minutes to go, the 49ers had a 99 percent chance to cover. They win by 8 and don’t. pic.twitter.com/5cxjvJkrTj

The Lions showed some f'cking guts today. Dead in the water but they kept fighting. Just like Dan Campbell said they would. That's something we haven't had in a while. Carry it on to next week. pic.twitter.com/7KCtNH5cYq

If the Lions continue to fight like they did today, the 2021 season should be a success.
Detroit will look to improve to 1-1 next week with a win over the Green Bay Packers on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
