It has been three weeks since Nike made Colin Kaepernick part of its "Just Do It" 30th anniversary campaign. The reaction since then has been strong from both the quarterback's supporters and detractors.
Some people burned their Nike gear and vowed not to support the Swoosh again. Others applauded the company for featuring Kaepernick in a prominent endorsement role.
Here is the ad Kaepernick was featured in, which premiered on opening night of the NFL season and has been shown on television in the weeks following.
Until today, Nike CEO Mark Parker had yet to publicly comment on Kaepernick's ad. He finally did so this afternoon.
“We feel very good and are very proud of the work we’re doing...we’ve seen record engagement with the brand," Parker said.
Kaepernick remains out of the NFL. He is still in the middle of a collusion grievance against the league.
