Johnny Manziel is not currently playing in the XFL. Patrick Mahomes would like that to change.
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback had a simple message for the XFL over the weekend. He’s ready to see Manziel, 27, playing in the upstart league, which began its inaugural season a couple of weeks ago.
Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, has been out of football for almost two years. He spent a brief period of time playing for the Memphis Express of the AAF in 2019. Previously, he played in the Canadian Football League in 2018 and the NFL from 2014-15.
The former Texas A&M star quarterback had a message for XFL commissioner Oliver Luck on Friday evening. Manziel wants in on the league.
“Oliver Luck,” Manziel tweeted. “If ya wanna boost your ratings to another level just send me the contract tomorrow and we’re in there. Like I said YEARS ago… XFL2020 give the people what they want.”
Mahomes appears to be a fan of that idea. He responded to Manziels’ tweet with his own message for the XFL.

Manziel in the XFL would be a lot of fun to watch, but it’s unclear how much interest the league has in the viral quarterback.
Quarterback play has been somewhat of an issue for the league so far, though, so perhaps taking a chance on Manziel would be worth it.
