Jameis Winston is currently without an NFL team for the 2020 season. That could be the case for a while longer, too.
The former No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft is out in Tampa Bay following the Buccaneers’ decision to sign Tom Brady in free agency.
Winston, 26, posted a goodbye message to the Buccaneers on social media over the weekend. He’s thankful for his time in Tampa Bay.
“It’s been a great 5 seasons as a Buccaneer. All love and respect. I love Tampa and I look forward to seeing y’all again in February. #SBLV #2020Vision #Dreamforever,” he wrote.

Tampa Bay is set to host next year’s Super Bowl. Winston clearly plans on playing in it.
It remains to be seen what team Winston will play for, though. The former Florida State standout QB hasn’t really been linked to anyone.
NBC Sports insider Peter King named his ideal landing spot for Winston on Monday morning:
I think the best place personally for Jameis Winston, as I’ve written in this space, is Pittsburgh. But I believe the Steelers won’t have interest in Winston as a 2020 sidecar for Ben Roethlisberger and perhaps his successor. I do think the Steelers had better spend some serious think time on the number two quarterback. With no one certain whether Roethlisberger will start 16 games or six, the Steelers don’t want to get caught short-handed this year, as they were last year.
King does not expect the Steelers to have interest in Winston, though he’s not the only one mentioning Pittsburgh as an ideal landing spot.
One of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, Steve Young, just called the Steelers and Jameis Winston a great fit.

Winston is coming off a crazy stats season in 2019 in which he threw for 5,109 yards, 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He ranked No. 1, No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, among NFL quarterbacks in all three categories.
Someone is going to take a gamble on Winston in 2020. Who will it ultimately be?
