Philip Rivers will be playing for a new NFL team in 2020.
The longtime Chargers quarterback has parted ways with the Los Angeles franchise. Rivers, 38, and the Chargers announced the quarterback would not return next season.
Rivers will now enter free agency. The veteran NFL quarterback has been linked to multiple franchises, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rivers and his family relocated to Florida earlier this offseason and Bruce Arians could be looking for a new QB.
Pro Football Focus sees Rivers signing elsewhere. Their prediction for Rivers' free agency decision is out and they see the quarterback signing in the AFC South.
The prediction: Rivers signs a two year, $58 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, with $34 million guaranteed.
"For anyone who thinks this is a bad idea, it’s really not. Brissett was a poor deep passer, and while Rivers has taken a step back in this category, the overall accuracy between the two is night and day. Looking at passes that were beyond the line of scrimmage, Brissett ranked second to last in uncatchable pass rate while Rivers ranked in the top 10," PFF writes.
Rivers' old teammate, Melvin Gordon, agrees with this prediction. He has also predicted Rivers will sign with Indianapolis.
“I think he’ll go to the Colts,” the Chargers running back said in an interview with CBS Sports. “I don’t know, that’s just my thought.”
