After losing in heartbreaking fashion in the Super Bowl, Andrew Whitworth wasn’t ready to commit for next season. Well, the veteran offensive lineman has finally made his decision official for 2019.
This past season gave Whitworth a multitude of opportunities he never had before in his illustrious career. He earned his first postseason win in the NFL, and made his first appearance in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl
Whitworth has become the vocal leader of the Los Angeles Rams, which makes sense considering his experience and production. Even though this past season didn’t end with him hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the four-time Pro Bowler will have one more chance for glory.
The left tackle of the Rams went on Twitter to announce that he’ll return for another season of football. This will mark his 14th season in the NFL.
Whitworth clearly enjoys being around the locker room in Los Angeles, as he wrote “Can’t wait for the opportunity to ride with the boys again!”
It also doesn’t hurt that he is set to make $10.7 million for next season and will play for contenders in the NFC.
Now that Whitworth is back for more action in 2019, he’ll have to get ready for another year of opening holes in the running game and protecting Jared Goff’s blindside.
With Whitworth back on board, the Rams can shift their focus over to re-signing Ndamukong Suh this offseason.
