NFL officiating has been under criticism fire in recent weeks and it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon. The latest "roughing the passer" penalty in the Rams-Falcons game certainly isn't helping.

A joke of a roughing penalty was called on the Falcons for what appeared to be a perfectly legal hit on quarterback Jared Goff.

Atlanta linebacker Foyesade Oluokun made contact with Goff milliseconds after the throw was released. The contact continued into the ground.

A flag was thrown.

It's understandable that the NFL wants to protect its quarterbacks, and injuries can happen when a QB is driven into the ground, but it's unclear what the Falcons are supposed to do here.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is leading Atlanta, 10-3.

The game is on FOX.
