The biggest story of the 2018 NBA offseason might be where LeBron James is headed in free agency. However, there's another major storyline that could have a significant impact on the future of the league.

San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard reportedly wants out. The All-NBA forward's situation with the Spurs has been weird for a while, and it looks like they've reached a tipping point.

The Spurs were reportedly planning on offering Leonard a max extension. Yet, that was to come on the heels of a meeting between Leonard and head coach Gregg Popovich.

Whether or not that meeting has happened is anyone's guess at this point. But it's clear that someone from Leonard's camp leaked the news that he want to be traded.

Multiple reporters broke the news at the same time.

This is obviously huge news that will change the face of the NBA if Kawhi is dealt. The former San Diego State star still has one year left on his contract, and a player option for the 2019-20 season.

If he truly wants out, it would be prudent for the Spurs to make a trade. However, a trading partner would likely need to know that Kawhi would sign a longterm deal following the 2018-19 season.

The NBA offseason is in full swing.
