Tom Herman is making several major coaching staff changes following the Longhorns’ disappointing 2019 season. One of those changes reportedly needed to happen to prevent an internal “revolt” within the program.
Texas defensive coordinator Todd Orlando has reportedly been fired today. Tim Beck is reportedly out as offensive coordinator.
Wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer has been fired.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported the news.
SOURCE: Tim Beck is out as OC at #Texas. Tom Herman also has fired WR coach/passing game coordinator Drew Mehringer. Big moves today at UT with DC Todd Orlando also gone.

Mehringer’s firing was reportedly extremely necessary.
From what I can gather, if WR coach Drew Mehringer had remained on the Texas staff as of 9 a.m. Monday, there would've been a serious internal revolt.

That does not sound great.
Texas finished the regular season at 7-5 with a win over Texas Tech on Friday. The Longhorns entered the season with Big 12 championship and College Football Playoff expectations, but have fallen short of those – drastically.
Herman at least understands that sweeping changes are necessary and appears to be making them quickly.
