With Alabama head coach Nick Saban handing the reins at quarterback over to Tyler Buchner this weekend, Robert Griffin III is concerned for now-former starting quarterback Jalen Milroe's future in Tuscaloosa.

Appearing on the Paul Finebaum Show, RG3 expressed concern over the timing of the change. He suggested that head coach Nick Saban's decision to pull the plug on him as a starter doesn't bode well for him moving forward.

"It makes me wonder about Jalen Milroe's future there... why didn't they just start Tyler Buchner from the beginning of the year?" Griffin said.

RG3 credited his development at Baylor to getting chances to play over three years before having his breakout year where he won the Heisman Trophy and led the Bears to the Alamo Bowl.

It's certainly a question worth asking. The last time Nick Saban made a high-profile benching of his quarterback was Jalen Hurts back in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Hurts was relegated to the backup the following year after Tua Tagovailoa led them to a national title win, and the year after that he transferred.

It will be interesting to see if Milroe is able to get his starting job back or if he follows a similar path that Hurts took.
