Tuesday, police in Lancaster, South Carolina asked for the public's help in finding former XFL star Rod Smart, who was reported missing since June 12. It looks like the former professional football player has been found safe.

According to The Herald, Smart was found "safe" on Tuesday afternoon. Doug Barfield, who is the spokesman for the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, issued a short statement on the matter:

“Torrold Deshaun Smart was located this afternoon and is safe,” Barfield said.

Smart played college football at Western Kentucky and starred in the XFL's lone season under the name "He Hate Me." He later played for a number of NFL teams, including the Carolina Panthers for four seasons.

It's unclear why Smart wasn't heard from for nearly a week. Police have not released any details on the situation.

Regardless, obviously, this is the best outcome we could have hoped for.

Smart, during his time in the NFL, was primarily used as a kick returner. He also rushed for 67 yards out of the backfield.
