Colin Kaepernick has been an NFL free agent since 2017. For four years, a chance to return to the league he was once dynamic in has never seemed likely.

That said, when New Orleans Saints receiver Jalen McCleskey extended an invitation to Kaepernick to work out, the QB took it. And when video surfaced of the pair running routes on air, fans in NOLA got to thinking.

"A serious workout? A serious middle finger to the NFL and Roger Goodell? Both?" asked one Saints fan. "#WhoDatNation."

"Wow," said John Walton. "So cool for Edna Karr for this to happen on their field."

"If the Saints make this happen ... I might have to get some season tickets," replied another fan.

"I don’t do football, but if the Saints sign Kaepernick, you’ll even see ME at the games!" commented DJ Soul Sister. "WHO DAT!!!!!!"

"I'd absolutely take Kaepernick instead of Taysom as the primary backup," replied another Saints fan.

"#SaintsSignKaepernick," tweeted Karen Beninato.

It's still a long shot for Colin Kaepernick to find himself back in the NFL. But this is the most positive momentum for the former 49ers QB in some time.
