Skip Bayless has had some hot takes over the years, but there’s one that stands above the rest. Thursday was the five-year anniversary of his LeBron-Manziel gem.
Back in May of 2014, LeBron James in the midst of his fourth playoff run with the Miami Heat. The Cleveland Browns had just drafted former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel with the 22nd pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Bayless, a known LeBron hater, suggested that Manziel would eventually be bigger in Cleveland than James ever was.
As we all know, LeBron returned to the Cavaliers two months later and ultimately led them to the NBA title in 2016. He’s no longer a member of the team, but he redeemed himself in Cleveland.
Manziel, meanwhile, flamed out of the NFL after two years – partially because of off-the-field shenanigans. Browns fans do not consider the Manziel era to be anything remotely near successful.

It’s easy to be wrong when it comes to sports predictions. But this was a long shot at best when Bayless tweeted it – and it wound up being one of the worst takes in history.
