Stop us if you’ve heard this one before – Skip Bayless tweeted something on Monday night that’s drawing a lot of ire. This time, it was about Kevin Durant’s status heading into Game 5.
Durant injured his calf in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets in the second round. He sat out for over a month, and of course, people started to question why he hadn’t returned to the court – especially with the Warriors struggling through the first four games of the NBA Finals.
One of those people was Bayless. After seeing Durant move well in warmups, he openly questioned why Durant wasn’t cleared to play in Game 4.
Needless to say, Skip’s tweet has not aged well. Durant likely tore his Achilles tendon in the second quarter and is now looking at a 6-12 month recovery.
KD looked much better in his solo pre-game warmup than I thought he would. Moved well. No sign of protecting/favoring his calf/Achilles. In fact, he looked so healthy that it made you wonder why he didn't try to go in Game 4.

This isn’t the worst Bayless tweet, but it’s one to add to the list.
As for Durant, the Warriors seem convinced that he suffered a torn Achilles. An MRI is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
The Raptors now lead the series 3-2. Game 6 will come on Thursday night.
