TCU is struggling this year. After losing to Texas Tech, the Horned Frogs sit at 3-3 on the season. They just got some more bad news tonight.
Junior safety Innis Gaines, who has been a stalwart on defense this season, is "likely" done for the year. Gaines suffered a left leg injury during last weekend's game against the Red Raiders.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson revealed the news on his radio show tonight.
Gaines has blossomed into a legit star this season for the Horned Frogs. He's made 31 tackles, tied for second-best on the team, along with a sack, an interception, six pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Obviously, this news isn't ideal before the Horned Frogs are about to play No. 9 Oklahoma. The Sooners have a high-octane offense and are led by star quarterback Kyler Murray.
TCU and Oklahoma will face off Saturday at noon ET in Fort Worth.
ABC will broadcast the action.
