The drama between Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers is mercifully over, but the impact of their breakup still lingers.
Despite all of his achievements on the field with the Steelers, Brown requested a trade this offseason. Friction between him and Ben Roethlisberger reportedly played a factor in his decision.
Ultimately, Pittsburgh sent the All-Pro wideout to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a third-round and fifth-round pick in this year’s draft.
With Brown now out of the Steel City, the franchise decided to give away his jersey number to undrafted rookie Milan Richard. The Clemson product won two national titles during his time with the program.
As expected, handing out No. 84 to an undrafted player didn’t sit well with a bunch of people on social media.
Some people thought Pittsburgh gave out his number way too soon, meanwhile others believe it isn’t a major deal.
Definitely did a double-take today when I saw #84 on the practice field. That's Milan Richard, a tight end from Clemson, who is also the nephew of Herschel Walker. He's in #Steelers Rookie Mini-Camp on a tryout basis. pic.twitter.com/SvKCkS9ykl

Either way, it’s hard to deny all the success that Brown had with the Steelers. He had 837 receptions for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns in his nine years with the franchise.
Brown will have his chance to prove his worth this season for the Raiders.
On the flip side, Richard is trying out in hope of making the 53-man roster for the Steelers.
