Sunday night, after the 2019 NCAA Tournament bracket was unveiled, we heard from ESPN’s top college basketball analysts regarding who they believe is going to cut down the nets in early April. Tuesday, we got a look at the five teams that Stephen A. Smith thinks have the best chance.
Smith, who was particularly energized for the segment, screamed his way through his list of the top five NCAA Tournament contenders. If you’re wondering, they’re Michigan State, Kentucky, Tennessee, Duke and North Carolina.
Smith is calling North Carolina “the favorites” to win the NCAA Tournament. He has the Tar Heels just edging out Duke – a team they beat twice during the regular season.
Jay Williams later joined the segment and noted that he believes Gonzaga should be considered one of the favorites as well.
Here’s video. Smith is very, very excited for the start of March Madness:
Smith isn’t the only ESPN analyst who is taking North Carolina to upset Duke. Jay Bilas is predicting the Tar Heels will prevail as well.
The 2019 NCAA Tournament officially tips off on Tuesday night with the ‘First Four’ but the 64-team bracket doesn’t start until Thursday afternoon. It should be a great event, yet again.
