The New York Knicks and their fan-base ended the 2018-19 regular season with high hopes. After finishing the season with the worst record in the NBA, the team was in line to land Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick.

However, that didn't work out after the Knicks landed the No. 3 pick in the draft. Knicks fans then told themselves, "at least we'll get Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in free agency."

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith was among the fans hoping for that possibility.

However, as free agency draws near, even Smith has given up hope.

On Thursday, Stephen A. took to the radio waves of the Worldwide Leader to announce neither Kevin Durant nor Kyrie will sign with the Knicks.

"I'm pretty much hearing it's done, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are going to Brooklyn," Smith said on his radio show Thursday afternoon.

Perhaps Stephen A. Smith is just playing the part of the beleaguered Knicks fan, but recent reports suggest at least Irving is heading to Brooklyn.

As for Kevin Durant, the Knicks were the leader in the clubhouse after he declined his player option with Golden State. Although that appears to have changed if Stephen A.'s sources are correct.

Stay tuned.
