Stephen A. Smith appears to be over Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets altogether.
Speaking of the former on Monday's edition of "First Take," the animated ESPN personality admitted he questioned whether or not Irving would play amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"When Russia bombed Ukraine, I thought Kyrie Irving wasn't gonna show up to work," Smith exclaimed. "I literally sat there was like this," rearing back with his hand to his chin. "Is this man gonna skip work?"
Stephen A.'s jab at Irving comes after Kyrie's absence following Trump supporters attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
Basketball fans reacted to Smith's comments Monday.
"Genuinely can't believe he said that!" replied one user.
“'When the sun rose the other day, I thought Ben Simmons wasn’t going to show up for work' - me."
"Look… we can complain about ESPN not having actual basketball analysis 95% of the time the NBA is discussed on their shows… but come on. The fact that this is a real quote is one of the funniest things I’ve heard in a MINUTE," laughed another.
"Oh Stephen A. bout to put on a HOF level slander performance today."
"This is a weird thing to say out loud on live TV," replied Nick Parco.
"He’s the greatest at this job he invented," David Amoyal said. "Genuinely respect his game."
"Like I said he’s walking a very fine line this morning," one viewer tweeted.
"This is the highest plane of existence in the hot take universe," another user commented.
"Whatever they pay Stephen A. it’s not enough," another said.
Stephen A. woke up and chose violence this AM.
