The 1972 Miami Dolphins are off the hook. The last unbeaten team in the NFL in 2018 has just taken its first loss.
The New Orleans Saints knocked off the Los Angeles Rams 45-35 this afternoon, ending the Rams’ unbeaten season. New Orleans led 35-14 before the Rams tied the game up, but scored the last 10 points to earn the W.
With the win, the 1972 Dolphins remain the last undefeated team in NFL history.
That means former Miami running back Mercury Morris and his teammates will be breaking out the champagne.
Somewhere, Mercury Morris is celebrating just like this

Down in South Florida, it’s ??????????????. NFL’s last unbeaten team this season has lost.

Morris is honestly pretty annoying when he brings up his team’s undefeated season, but he should have more chances to pop champagne in the coming years.
In the modern NFL, it is damn near impossible to even make it through the regular season without a loss. And even if you do, well, you might wind up like the 2007 Patriots.
As for the Rams, well we wouldn’t mind seeing them play the Saints again in January with a lot more on the line.
