Tiger Woods had a disappointing showing at The Northern Trust in New Jersey this weekend, having to withdraw due to an injury in the second round following a brutal performance in Round 1.

"I went for treatment early Friday morning, but unfortunately I'm still unable to compete," Woods said in a statement released on Friday morning. "I'd like to thank the New Jersey and New York fans for their support and remain hopeful I can compete next week at the BMW Championship."

The BMW Championship is the next phase of the FedEx Cup and Woods' status for that event has yet to be announced.

Woods is listed on the Wednesday morning pro-am schedule, however, perhaps indicating that he plans on playing.

Woods will need a good showing at the BMW Championship in order to advance to the Tour Championship.

Woods has played well at the BMW Championship and he won the Tour Championship last year, so it'd be nice to see him healthy and contending at these events.

The BMW Championship is set to begin on Thursday morning at Medinah Course No. 3. The tournament will be televised on Golf Channel and NBC.
