The PGA Championship wasn't too kind to Tiger Woods, who missed the cut for that weekend. However, the legendary golfer is slowly finding his stroke again at The Memorial Tournament.

With the first round officially in the books for Woods, he is only five shots back of current leader Ryan Moore.

After battling through a rough start, Woods managed to finish two shots under par.

Woods managed to birdie three out of the last four holes, which gives him plenty of reason to be optimistic for the rest of this event. Besides, he holds claim to five wins at The Memorial Tournament.

Considering how poorly the back nine treated Woods, it's great to see within striking distance with plenty of golf left to play.

This year has been a rollercoaster of emotions for Woods. From mounting an improbable comeback win at The Masters to struggling at the PGA Championship, he is still considered must-watch television.

We'll see if Woods' late surge at the end of the opening round can carry over to Day 2 of the tournament.

A victory at the 2019 Memorial Tournament would give Woods his 82nd PGA Tour win, setting up a tie with Sam Snead for the No. 1 spot all-time.
