On Friday afternoon, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods took the course at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas for a winner-take-all $9 million match. It's the first of its kind and after the reaction from Twitter and other social media platforms, it won't be the last.

Two of the world's best didn't have their best early on, but both Phil and Tiger found their form in the last few holes.

Trailing by one hole on No. 17, Tiger's tee shot made it look like Phil was going to wrap up the victory a hole early. Woods then chipped in from the fringe and Mickelson missed a birdie put to knot the match heading into No. 18.

After 18, the match was still all square and the two went for an extra hole, then another, then another to settle the match.

The winner? Phil Mickelson.

With the win, Mickelson takes home $9 million.

Not a bad pay day for 21 holes of golf.
