Back in 2020, Tom Brady shocked the sports world when he announced he was leaving the Patriots to become a free agent. What ensued was a bit surprising. Few teams showed interest in the NFL quarterback.

At that point in time, it appeared Brady began slowing down. In his final playoff game with the Patriots, the veteran quarterback threw a costly pick six in a 20-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Most teams steered clear of No. 12 during his free-agency period the next year, as a result.

Brady, of course, wound up signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the two years since he's won one Super Bowl and is still at the top of his game.

Back in 2020, Brady was furious few teams were showing interest in him. What a massive mistake that turned out to be.

"If you're another team and you're not interested in having me as your quarterback, like what the f—k is wrong with you?"

One of those teams who reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign Brady was the San Francisco 49ers. They chose to moved forward with Jimmy Garoppolo. The team was good enough to make it to the 2020 Super Bowl, but Garoppolo's limitations proved too costly in a loss to the Chiefs.

Had the Niners gone all-in for Brady, they might have won one or perhaps even two Super Bowls. Instead, they're stuck with zero in that span.

Brady's motivation is clear in coming years: prove his doubters wrong.
