The Toronto Raptors, after defeating the Golden State Warriors in six games to win the NBA Finals last week, are currently holding their championship victory parade. Unfortunately, a very serious situation appears to have arisen during the celebration.
According to the Toronto Police, there was a shooting at Nathan Phillip's Square. Details are scarce, but the police department tweeted that there are reports of a woman being shot.
The Athletic's Hailey Salvian says that the celebration is still going on near the front of the square, while people in the back are running away. She's been told to get down and stay down.
Antonella Artuso of the Toronto Sun posted multiple videos of fans running from the chaos.
At the moment, it's unclear if the person who fired the shots has been apprehended. We'll update this post as more information comes to light.
