Is a big 2021 season ahead for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott? One former franchise star certainly seems to think so.
Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman is expecting big things of the superstar player in 2021.
Aikman believes Prescott will be in the MVP conversation – if he stays healthy, of course.
“I expect them to be as explosive as anybody in the game,” Aikman said in a clip posted to Twitter by FOX4’s Mike Doocy. “I know that last year’s defense was not that good, and there’s some concerns there. Until they show it on the field, there’s going to be those questions. But I believe that the players that they have, if health- I hate to even say ‘if they stay healthy;’ that’s true for all teams- but I believe that if the players that they have can play to the ability that we all know that they can play to, I think that they should have plenty of defense to complement an explosive offense and win a lot of games.”

Of course, staying healthy could already be an issue. Prescott has been dealing with some shoulder soreness throughout training camp. However, a recent MRI indicated there was nothing to be alarmed about.
Prescott said he could play in a regular season game right now if he had to.
“I think that’s because people that know me, the people who know the competitor I am, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to make sure I’m out there,” he said. “But as I’ve said, this is something we want to nip in the bud and not let continue to linger. And I think the best way we do that is stay on the pace that I am and progress through it the right way, and once Sept. 9 comes I’ll play that game and move forward without ever thinking about this again.”
The Cowboys will open the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 9 against the Buccaneers.
