President Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden, but the incumbent has yet to officially concede the election to his successor. It doesn’t sound like a concession is coming anytime soon, either.
An advisor to President Trump reportedly compared his team’s mindset to that of a legendary sports team that didn’t handle losing very well.
The ‘Bad Boy’ Detroit Pistons were among the most-disliked teams in NBA history. When the Pistons lost to the Michael Jordan-led Bulls in the playoffs for the first time, Detroit’s players walked off the floor without shaking hands.
An advisor to President Trump reportedly envisions something similar happening when Joe Biden takes office in 2021.
“One Trump advisor compared the president to the 1990s Era Detroit Pistons, who famously refused to shake hands with the Chicago Bulls, who won the NBA Championship in that era,” White House insider Jim Acosta told CNN colleague Wolf Blitzer on Friday. “The advisor said that Trump could do the same with this election, leave the stage without conceding defeat, calling Mr. Trump—this is in the words of the Trump advisor I spoke with—a ‘Bad Boy for life.’”
