TV cameras can catch the darnedest things. Take for instance what happened tonight when TNT panned to an injured Joel Embiid sitting on the Philadelphia 76ers bench.
Embiid was a late scratch before Game 3 of tonight's Eastern Conference first round matchup with the Brooklyn Nets. He is out with left knee tendinitis, but Philadelphia is set to pull off a win and go up 2-1 in the series anyway.
Midway through the fourth quarter, TNT showed Embiid in street clothes with a few of his teammates. The shot was simply to usher in a report on the big man from sideline reporter Ros Gold-Onwude but it wound up being much more.
In the few seconds of airtime, Embiid, Zhaire Smith, Amir Johnson and another Philly player in a hooded sweatshirt appeared to react to...someone passing gas.
Talk about an awkward moment. Wonder if someone will get the players to cough up the name of the guilty party after this game.
Someone needs to ease up on the pregame meal it seems.
