The most important player on the backend of the Kansas City Chiefs defense will reportedly test the open market. According to Kent Swanson of KC Sports Network, All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu will explore what he's worth in free agency.
Adding that Mathieu "probably breaks double digits" on his next salary.
Swanson's tweet received plenty of reaction from the NFL world.
"Thank god," one Chiefs fan replied.
"Unfortunately this is not suprising," another fan tweeted.
"We had a good run," a user said, sadly.
"Greaaaat," another responded.
"Good luck elsewhere," a KC fan wished the Honey Badger.
"Welp," another commented. "Defense isn't gonna be stellar but I can accept this."
"And Matthieu goes into the night to play for more money on a crappy team. Never heard from again nevermore," another Chiefs fan replied.
Over the last three seasons with the Chiefs, Tyrann Mathieu has been selected to two All-Pro teams and pair of Pro Bowls. Not to mention a Super Bowl ring.
There should be a number of teams interested in bringing in the all-decade safety.
