After an encouraging start to the 2018 Ryder Cup, Tiger Woods and the United States team came crashing down in the afternoon session.

Early on, the majority of USA pairing played well, as Woods and Patrick Reed were the only duo that struggled. However, the entire complexion of today's tournament changed in the second session. It was a downright dominant performance from Europe, as they won every match en route to a 5-3 lead after one day of action.

Lost in the disappointing showing from the USA side was that Woods and Reed did not participate in the afternoon.

As for Saturday's matchups, Woods will once again partner with Reed in the morning.

It appears the USA side will not make any changes, as they'll present the same lineup from today.

For Woods, he'll have his shot at redemption against Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood. After all, they were the only European pairing to put points on the board in the opening round.

If the United States is going to make this Ryder Cup interesting, it's crucial that they strike early in the four-ball session on Saturday.
