One year has made all the difference for Virginia's men's basketball program.

A year ago, the Cavaliers became the first No. 1 seed in the history of the NCAA Tournament to lose to a No. 16 seed. Virginia was upset by UMBC in the opening round in 2018.

Tonight, Virginia is national champions.

The Cavaliers, once again a No. 1 seed, topped No. 3 seed Texas Tech in overtime of the national championship game.

Shortly after the final buzzer, UMBC released the following message:

"What an incredible season for UVA. That was truly a turnaround for the ages! Congratulations, champs!" they wrote.

It doesn't get much classier than that.

Well done, UMBC.

(And congrats, Virginia.)
