The United States Women’s National Team was honored at the ESPYS on Wednesday night, and unfortunately, it looks like someone took advantage of knowing their whereabouts. Allie Long, a member of the squad, says that someone burglarized her hotel room during the show.
Long says that someone stole her wedding ring, her cash and the “key” to New York City that she’d recently been given after the championship parade earlier in the week. She asked Mayor Bill de Blasio if he had a spare.
He responded, saying she’ll be able to get a new one.
Alex Morgan, the team’s star forward, chimed in on Twitter, very upset.

So sorry to hear it, Allie. Hang in there. Don’t worry about the key. Like any good New Yorker, we keep a spare for our neighbors! We got you covered. https://t.co/B5xqZPMZnU

I AM FURIOUS FOR YOU

It’ll be interesting to see if the stolen goods are recovered. Clearly, any pawn shop that sees the key will have a clue as to where it came from.
The United States Women’s National Team won its fourth World Cup this past Sunday, defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in a thrilling final. It’s the second World Cup win in a row for the squad.
