Maryland suffered the most-heartbreaking loss of the NCAA Tournament so far this afternoon, as the No. 6-seeded Terrapins fell to No. 3 seed LSU in the second round.

The loss came on a last-second layup by LSU's Tremont Waters (who might've traveled before the game-winning shot).

Maryland freshman Jalen Smith had a heart-wrenching reaction to the loss, as the former 5-star recruit had to be consoled by his teammates and helped off the floor.

Smith had an awesome game, hitting a game-tying 3 with under a minute to play.

Video of Smith's reaction to the loss is tough to watch:

Smith's head coach, Mark Turgeon, was pretty shaken up, too.

Maryland should bring back everyone but Bruno Fernando (who's likely to head to the NBA and be a potential lottery pick), so the 2020 NCAA Tournament could bring good fortune.

Still, this loss will be tough to get over.
