The XFL had impressive attendance numbers in Washington, D.C. in Week 1. More than 17,000 fans attended the D.C. Defenders’ first game at Audi Field.
D.C.’s XFL team was home again in in Week 2. Cardale Jones and Co. hosted the New York Guardians for their second game of the season. The Defenders impressed, posting a shutout win over New York’s XFL team.
Attendance numbers for D.C.’s second XFL game are in. They are a little bit down from Week 1, but remain fairly impressive. The Washington Post had the numbers first.
The D.C. Defenders had 15,031 fans in attendance in Week 2. That’s a decent dropoff from Week 1, when the Defenders played in front of a nearly sold-out crowd of 17,163.
The atmosphere inside Audi Field was still good in Week 2, though, and 15,000-plus is an impressive number for a Week 2 game.
D.C. should have solid attendance numbers all season. The Defenders look like the best team in the XFL and should contend for a championship.
The Defenders will be on the road in Week 2. Washington, D.C.’s team is set to face the Los Angeles Wildcats on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. E.T. The game will be on FS1.
