Why Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski Were Spotted In Patriots Gear

Everyone has old clothes they won't discard. Whether they're too tired to clean the closet or attached for sentimental reasons, some apparel hangs around for years as a reminder of past experiences.

Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski haven't played for the New England Patriots since 2019, but they have too much old Super Bowl gear to waste.

Julian Edelman captured his former teammates wearing shirts commemorating one of their three championship triumphs together. He posted (and later deleted) photos of Brady and Gronkowski on the set of 80 for Brady, a road-trip movie the quarterback is producing starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field.

The film, inspired by a true story, follows four Patriots fans traveling to Super Bowl LI to see Brady. So it's only fitting that the Patriots stars wore the shirts celebrating their 34-28 comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons on February 5, 2017.

While their involvement is unconfirmed, their presence on set could mean Gronkowski and Edelman will appear in 80 for Brady.

However, Brady will soon change into Tampa Bay Buccaneers gear for his third season as their starting quarterback. He's still waiting to see if Gronkowski will join him, sign elsewhere, or retire for the second time.

It's nevertheless a nice treat for Patriots fans to momentarily see the former franchise legends back in New England apparel.
