The New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins will play game one of their ALDS matchup on Friday night, and ahead of the contest, the Bronx Bombers have released their 25-man roster for the series. There was at least one surprise on it.
Many weren’t expecting to see reliever Tyler Lyons make the cut. He’s one of 12 pitchers on the roster for the series.
The Yankees will have available Lyons, Zack Britton, Luis Cessa, Aroldis Chapman, Chad Green, J.A. Happ, Tommy Kahnle, Jonathan Loaisiga, Adam Ottavino, James Paxton, Luis Severino and Masahiro Tanaka.
Two catchers – Gary Sanchez and Austin Romine – are on the roster. Edwin Encarnacion, Didi Gregorius, D.J. LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshela and Luke Voit are the infielders. Brett Gardner, Aaron Judge, Cameron Maybin and Giancarlo Stanton are the outfielders. Tyler Wade is listed as a flex outfielder/infielder.
The Yankees announced the news on Twitter with a graphic.
