ESPN has issued a new injury update for Duke star freshman Zion Williamson, who left tonight’s rivalry game against North Carolina just seconds into the contest.
Williamson, the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, suffered an apparent knee injury when he slipped on the floor and blew through his Nike sneakers. The Duke star freshman was down on the floor for several seconds while the Tar Heels had the ball. Play was then stopped and Williamson made his way off of the floor.
Williamson was on the bench for several minutes, getting checked out by trainers. He’s since headed to the locker room.
ESPN sideline reporter Maria Taylor is reporting that Williamson is still getting looked at in the locker room. He has not come out onto the court.
Taylor added that Williamson looked like he might be testing out his knee and also had new shoes brought to him. Williamson’s father made his way down from the stands and into the locker room, but has since gone back.

Duke has really missed its star freshman, as the Blue Devils are trailing the Tar Heels, 30-17, at the under-8 timeout mark.
Those in attendance have missed him, too.
“A ticket broker told me today that Zion Williamson alone added $1,000 to each ticket bought on the secondary market. He has, so far missed, half of the first half,” Darren Rovell tweeted.
