The 2019 NBA Draft is underway, and the first overall pick, as projected, was Zion Williamson to the New Orleans Pelicans. After the selection, Williamson gave an emotional interview with ESPN’s Maria Taylor.
Williamson, when asked what the moment was like, credited his mother with helping him get to where he is. He broke down crying when trying to find the words to say about her.
It’s another example that shows that Williamson is both a great player on the floor and a great person off of it.
Here’s part of the interview:
"I wouldn't be here without my mom. She did everything for me."

Ja Morant went No. 2 to the Memphis Grizzlies while R.J. Barrett went No. 3 to the New York Knicks – as expected.
Williamson will be joining the Pelicans at an interesting time. Anthony Davis, the team’s best player the past few years, was just traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Williamson will immediately be the focus of the franchise.
We’ll keep you updated on the rest of the draft.
