Why Rob Gronkowski Has Been Missing Patriots Minicamp

Rob Gronkowski has been one of multiple New England Patriots to be absent from the team's mandatory minicamp at Foxboro this week.

On Tuesday, Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick was asked about Gronkowski's absence. Unsurprisingly, Belichick just said that the All-Pro tight end was one of many players who were not practicing.

There appears to be a reason for Gronk's absence from the fields at Gillette Stadium, though.

ESPN.com's Mike Reiss is reporting that the former Arizona star is nursing a minor injury.

Reiss says the ailment is "undisclosed" and that Gronk has reported to minicamp but is not practicing. From his report:

A source told ESPN that Gronkowski reported with the rest of his teammates and is continuing to work behind the scenes as the club takes a cautious approach with an undisclosed physical ailment that isn't considered a long-range concern.Gronkowski has been showing up for workouts all offseason. He also wasn't on the field in the last practice open to reporters, a voluntary organized team activity on May 26.

Belichick was once again asked today about Gronkowski's absence from the field. And, once again, he basically said nothing.

Gronkowski has been one of 13 Patriots to be absent from the field during minicamp.

The others include wide receivers Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman, and running back LaGarrette Blount.

The Patriots minicamp is set to run through Thursday.
