The Baltimore Ravens Have Terminated The Contract Of RB Ray Rice Following Release Of TMZ Video

The Baltimore Ravens announced this afternoon that they have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice.

">September 8, 2014

Rice, 27, was involved in a domestic assault altercation with his then-fiancee Lanay Palmer at a hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in February.

Monday morning, TMZ Sports posted a video showing Rice and Palmer, who is now his wife, entering an elevator. Inside the elevator, Rice hits Palmer. Palmer lunges after Rice, and then Rice punches her with a closed fist and she falls to the floor.

A few months after the February incident, TMZ released video showing Rice dragging an apparently unconscious Palmer out of an elevator. Rice was later suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for two games.

Rice is now a free agent. The move by the Ravens will cost them a $5.5 million hit against the salary cap.
