Video: Scary Crash At North Wilkesboro Speedway On Wednesday
NASCAR is making its return to North Wilkesboro Speedway for the All-Star Race this week. The track is hosting several events leading up to the All-Star Race on Sunday, including races from other national series.
The CARS late-model tour took to the track on Wednesday, and two drivers were involved in a scary crash early into the race.
Take a look at the incident that saw drivers Nick Loden and Josh Lowder get tangled up near a pit lane wall.
One white car appears to collide with the other yellow car while near the wall, sending it airborne before it collides with a barrier further up the track. The white car looks to have taken most of the damage, rendered essentially unusable.
Fortunately, both drivers were able to get out of their cars following the crash.
Events at North Wilkesboro will continue through Sunday, where the weekend will culminate in the All-Star Race. NASCAR's return to North Wilkesboro after 27 years coincides with a celebration of the sport's history in its 75th anniversary season.
In addition to the All-Star Race, a Truck Series race will be held at the track on Saturday.
The winner of the All-Star Race will earn $1 million, a tradition that dates back to the early 2000s.
