Rory McIlroy is having a bad day.
McIlroy is always a favorite to win at any major, but this week at the British Open he’s struggled to perform up to his standards. This morning, he quickly bogeyed three of the first five holes.
Unfortunately for the golfer, his game didn’t get better. By the 16th hole he’d had it and officially lost his mind. He slammed his club into the Royal Troon turf and, well, it didn’t make it to see the rest of the course.
McIlroy has showed his temper in previous tournaments, throwing a club into the water at last year’s WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral and kicking the sand during his first Masters. But it doesn’t happen that often, so when it does it certainly adds some excitement to those long, tame tournaments.
