Steve Sarkisian Hands Play-Calling Duties To USC Offensive Coordinator Clay Helton

USC head coach Steve Sarkisian has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, and it appears he is refocused on becoming the best head coach he can possibly be.

With the Trojans in position to make a push for a Pac-12 title run this year, Sarkisian wants to make sure all of his ducks are in a row. So on Saturday, he announced that offensive coordinator Clay Helton will step in and take over play-calling responsibilities in 2015, with occasional help from the head coach.

With this move, wide receiver coach Tee Martin will head up to the box during games while Helton takes the sidelines. Sarkisian feels that, with this move, he'll be able to better execute his duties as head coach.

Interesting move by Sarkisian, but it does seem like he's truly focused on improving himself as a leader. The Trojans open their season September 5 at home against Arkansas State, and it will be interesting to see what this change does for USC.
