The Golden State Warriors announced a new update for Kevin Durant this afternoon, revealing that the All-NBA forward won’t be playing at the beginning of the NBA Finals.
Durant, who is recovering from a strained calf, could return at some point during the championship series, but it’s uncertain.
The team issued a full update on Durant and DeMarcus Cousins, who has also been out with an injury.
Golden State is “hopeful” Durant will be back, while Cousins return is “anticipated.”

If Durant is unable to return, he might have played his final games as a Warriors player. He’s set to hit free agency this summer and the Warriors aren’t listed as the favorite to land him.
Here are the three favorites, per Caesars:
- Knicks +120
- Clippers +150
- Warriors +200

Durant’s manager claims that his client has not at all decided what he’ll be doing in free agency, but that’s not stopping any speculation about a signing in New York.
