The sweepstakes for Russell Westbrook are in full effect as teams are preparing to make an offer for him. Miami has been considered the favorite to land the All-Star point guard, but it appears it’ll have competition on the trade market.
Westbrook has been the heart and soul of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the past decade. Sadly, it seems his days with the franchise are numbered.
Oklahoma City traded Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers last week, raising speculation about Westbrook’s future on the team. Rumors about the Miami Heat’s trade offer for the former MVP have already been leaked.
It’s definitely possible that Miami lands its second superstar, yet there’s another team in pursuit that can’t be dismissed. Houston is suddenly emerging as a trade suitor for Westbrook.
“The Houston Rockets are trying to get in on this,” Windhorst said on SportsCenter. “They are trying to get in on a three-team trade where they can get their hands on Russell Westbrook.”
Windhorst also revealed that Westbrook has put Miami at the top of his short list of trade destinations.

Houston is trying to add more firepower to its roster before the start of next season.
A trio of Westbrook, James Harden and Chris Paul sounds pretty complicated, but general manager Daryl Morey isn’t afraid to take that risk.
With the Warriors’ reign of terror on the Western Conference coming to an end, the Rockets might decide that Westbrook is their missing piece to get over the hump.
Stay tuned for the latest on Westbrook.
