Gordon Hayward barely played five minutes with his new team, the Boston Celtics, before going down with a brutal-looking injury.
Hayward went down under the basket, and it certainly looks like he suffered a broken ankle, or worse.
His status is uncertain, but it is very hard to see the star forward returning to the court anytime soon.
Reactions from other NBA stars is pouring in on Twitter. Paul George, who missed a season after a similarly gruesome leg injury, was among the first players to send his thoughts to Hayward.

Players on both teams were visibly distraught, and according to reports, LeBron James and Isaiah Thomas went into the locker room after the first quarter to check on him.
Our thoughts go out to Hayward. Hopefully he makes a full recovery from this injury, however bad it is.
